The top layer has the toughest and tightest fibers of the leather (grain) and the pores that take in y oils when touched. That's why full grain ages so nicely. It's a shame when they shave off that top layer and paint it to get rid of imperfections. If it goes before you do, we'll fix it or replace it for free. Heck, have your great grandchildren talk to my great grandchildren and we'll take care of them too. Only for 100 years though.
